What is a virtual airline?
Wondering what a virtual airline is? In simple terms, it is a group of Flight Simulator "pilots" who simulate a fictitious or real world airline. The operation is purely for non-profit.
The objective is to enjoy professional flight simulation using one's own computer at home to simulate the virtual airline's flights. Building hours and being promoted to higher ranks and earn income for both the airline and himself, stimulates the pilot to fly more and the sense of reward is what keeps them going, in their spare time of course.
It is important to highlight that this is a hobby, so the attraction is not a salary, but a feeling of pilot community which particularly attracts the pilot to the VA, depending on their geographic, technical, and cultural tastes, etc.
We are proud to be South Africa's best virtual airline, and look forward to you joining us.
Are you affiliated to any other virtual airline?
We are NOT affiliated with any other virtual airline, or act as a regional carrier for any other virtual airline. We have our own goals and missions established, seperate from any other virtual airline.
How do I join SAA Virtual?
You can find out how to start your virtual career by clicking the "Join Us" link found on the navigation menu to the left under "Our Pilots". We are always looking for dedicated professional virtual pilots to fill our ranks. If you have any unanswered questions please feel free to contact the management and we will attempt to answer any questions you may have. No prior experience is required.
I've been hired, and can access the website, now what?
Welcome aboard! Now you can register on our site where you can post in our forums (please use the same assigned callsign and e-mail address so we can verify who you are), participate in the community, and most of all fly. We do not assign flight assigments and it's up to you as the pilot to decide where you want to fly. You can select a flight to fly by searching our flight database in the Operations Section.
Before you are able to fly our airline fleet you will be required to do two test flights to allow you to become aquanted with the the FlyNet system.
